Summary: Hyde has a crush on someone but never dared to speak to that person. One day, fate decides to give him a little push.

Hyde sighed in frustration as he stared at the door of the small coffee shop. It was almost ten. TEN! Already! And he hadn’t showed up yet. Had something happened to him? Had he started to get coffee somewhere else? He never came any later than 9:45 on Mondays. Never!

“Oi! Hyde, you’re spilling coffee all over the counter!”

Ruiza, his small blonde co-worker was flailing next to him, waving a dishtowel in front of his face. Hyde blinked, looked at Ruiza, then at the concerned looking lady on the other side of the counter, who had wanted nothing more than a nice hot coffee, and now she could watch the liquid soak the napkins and sugar packages that were neatly placed next to the display that held donuts, cookies and other sweet baked foods.

Not quite realizing what was happening, Hyde grabbed the towel and started to wipe the coffee, only to realize that it was very hot. He cursed quietly and pulled his hand back. Ruiza promptly grabbed his arm and pulled him to the sink so he could wash his hand with cold water.

“What’s wrong with you today? You tend to have your head in the clouds, but it’s never been this bad…”

Ruiza poked Hyde’s side, making him squeal before he turned the water off again and started wrapping a bandage around Hyde’s hand.

“Shouldn’t you put ointment on it as well?”

“Do you really think we have the right kind here?” Ruiza pouted. “Also, I don’t have to help you with this. I’m doing it because I’m such a nice guy, you know. And because I can’t manage the noon shift alone.”

Once the bandaging was done, Ruiza went to clean the counter and serve the oddly patient lady some coffee. Then he went back to scolding Hyde.

“Now tell me… what’s going on?”

Hyde frowned, then he pouted.

“It’s nothing… OW! What the hell?”

Ruiza had pinched Hyde’s cheek quite hard and was glaring at him now.

“You lied to me”, he said sternly.

Hyde huffed, pouted some more and eventually sighed again.

“It’s the handsome black haired man who always comes around ten… he hasn’t showed up yet”, Hyde said, clearly unhappy.

At first, Ruiza just stared at him. Then he started laughing, a knowing expression on his face. Hyde glared at him.

“Not funny”

“Hyde-chan has a crush! Hyde-chan as a crush!”, he said, giggling. “You don’t even know his name though, Hyde-chan.”

“Don’t call me that! And it’s not a crush… I’m just… worried we lost a good customer. Yes.”

Hyde wasn’t sure if he was even buying that excuse himself. It was just rubbish. So he had a crush on some customer he didn’t know… so what?

“His name is Asagi.”

Hyde and Ruiza turned their heads and saw a strange looking man standing on the other side of the counter. Hyde pouted as he realized who it was. Well nobody else would wear that kind of clothing… He looked like he just escaped from some circus and fell into a little girls pink glitter powder.

“How would you know, Tetsu?”, he asked grumpily.

“Well, I know because he owns a pet-shop on my street and we met several times”, he explained.

Oh, right. Tetsu was a business man. He owned a shop for ridiculous clothing, makeup and hair styling. Only crazy people would go there, so Hyde had never set foot inside, and after seeing it once from outside, he wouldn’t even go near it. They knew each other since they were just kids, when they had played in a band together for a while. And while Hyde was now studying music, Tetsu had opened his own business. It made sense though, since he had met most of his customers back when they had been in the music industry for a little while. So many crazy people there. Some who were now famous. Sometimes Hyde wondered if they could have been famous too.

“So… his name is Asagi and he loves animals?”, Ruiza asked, smiling suddenly. “Sounds like he is purrfect for Hyde. Get it? Purrfect?”

Riuza giggled and Hyde glared again.

“So why didn’t he show up today?”

Hyde wanted to know. Had to know.

Tetsu chuckled, and Hyde wanted to punch him for that.

“Our street has a little advent market this afternoon. Asagi didn’t get done with his preparations, so he’s very busy right now. In fact, I’m getting coffee for him and some other people. He insisted that it had to be coffee from this shop.”

He grinned in a way that made it very clear that he knew something Hyde didn’t know. Hyde had no idea what that could be though. Probably something very Tetsu-y.

“Oh I see… he likes our coffee then. That’s good. I was worried we’d lose one of our regular customers”, Hyde said, blushing faintly as both Tetsu and Ruiza gave him very knowing looks. He huffed in frustration, then wandered off to get more muffins.

‘What am I even doing here’, Hyde thought to himself as he strolled down the street.

It had already started to get dark by the time his shift had ended. Usually he walked home as fast as possible when it was dark, but no, not this time.

He cringed as he passed Tetsu’s shop. He knew he would be in trouble if Tetsu saw him here. He would pull him inside and ask if he could pick new clothes for him, and why he always wore boring things. He cringed again and walked faster, but stopped abruptly as he saw what looked like a small village spread over the street. So that was why cars weren’t allowed here right now…

He could smell all sorts of food, and instantly his stomach started growling. It hadn’t been that long since his last snack (four donuts)… why was he hungry again? It was probably the smell.

Momentarily forgetting why he was here, he approached the small wooden houses. There were so many things to see! Foods he had never seen before, sparkling Christmas decoration, weird hats…

He spotted Tetsu in time to jump out of sight and… directly into someone.

“Sorry!”, Hyde instantly said, then he looked up and froze. “Asagi..”

The taller man grinned at him in a strange way. That or it was that hat with kitty ears on it that made him look strange. He was still looking gorgeous though… long silky hair, beautiful dark eyes…

Hyde’s thoughts were interrupted as Asagi started to speak. Ah that voice…

“How do you know my name?”, Asagi asked softly.

Hyde instantly blushed a bit, what made the taller man smile.

“Tetsu told me”, he said honestly, before he realized how awkward this was.

He had to find an excuse to leave. But Asagi seemed to have other plans.

“I see… It’s nice to see you around here. I was sad that I didn’t have time to get coffee today”, Asagi said, sounding actually sad.

Hyde was confused. How could coffee be so important?

“I’m sure you can get your coffee tomorrow…”

Asagi chuckled, shaking his head lightly. Then he suddenly took Hyde’s hand and pulled him deeper into the little market, before out of it again, only on the other side.

Asagi led him to the small park just around the corner. Someone had put a large Christmas tree there. It was decorated in silver only, making it look like it was frozen. It matched the snow that covered the small park. It had something magical. Everything was sparkling in the bright moonlight. And there was Asagi, leading him to stand right in front of the tree. For some time, they just looked at each other. Asagi’s eyes were so soft, so warm… Hyde easily lost himself in them. And the way he was looking at him…

Suddenly, large soft hands cupped his cheeks, and before Hyde realized what was happening, Asagi had leaned down and was kissing him tenderly. The smaller man blushed, but just as Asagi was about to pull away again, he quickly slipped his arms around his neck so he couldn’t pull back. They kissed again, longer, more passionate this time.

A few moments later they broke the kiss so they could breathe.

Asagi was smiling softly, while Hyde was still overwhelmed. He could only stare at the other man, trying hard to comprehend what was happening. Naturally, it was Asagi who spoke first.

“You have no idea how long I wanted to do this”

He placed a kiss on Hyde’s forehead, then he pulled him into a gentle embrace. Hyde held onto him, pressed his smaller body against Asagi’s and sighed softly.

“I have… trust me…”, he whispered.

“So I didn’t imagine the looks you were giving me, Hyde?”

“No… I guess not”, Hyde said blushing a little. He wondered how Asagi knew his name. Probably Tetsu had told him…

Asagi was still smiling. Such a beautiful smile…

Hyde looked up as Asagi took his hand again.

“Did you hurt yourself?”, he asked worriedly, eying Hyde’s bandaged hand.

“I… burnt myself with coffee…”, Hyde confessed, blushing a little. “I… was worried because you didn’t show up.”

Asagi thought about this for a moment, then he smiled.

“Did you take care of it properly?”

Hyde shook his head. What was Asagi going to do now? Couldn’t he just kiss him again.

“Would you… come home with me?”

Asagi was giving Hyde a sweet smile, and Hyde found himself unable to refuse, so he nodded.

“I… yes, I would…”

A ten minute walk - that was spent in comfortable silence - later, they arrived at Asagi’s home. It was a rather big apartment on the first floor of a newer looking apartment building. As they entered, they were instantly welcomed by three cats that were standing next to each other in the hallway, staring at them while Asagi closed the door.

The large white one, looking incredibly fluffy, approached Hyde first, sniffing him, then rubbing against his legs. She then meowed at him. Hyde gave her a confused look.

“She wants you to pick her up”, Asagi said and smiled. “She likes you.”

He took off his boots, then went to take the other two cats in his arms and carry them into the kitchen. Hyde nodded and took off his shoes as well, before picking up the white cat and following the other man. Hyde was more than surprised that Asagi took out food for the cats and placed it in three bows on the ground next to each other. Eventually he seemed to remember that Hyde was there.

“Now… let me look at your hand”, he said softly.

Asagi took the bandage off of Hyde’s hand, and the smaller man frowned as he saw that it was all red. It also hurt a bit now that the bandage was gone.

Asagi frowned as well.

“Whoever put the bandage on you didn’t know what he was doing…”

Hyde chuckled. Yeah, that usually was a good description for his co-worker.

Again Asagi got up and left the room, but he soon returned with some ointment and a softer looking kind of bandage. Hyde noticed how gentle and soft his hands were as the other man put the ointment onto his burnt skin and bandaged it.

“It feels better already”, he said quietly, feeling a bit starstruck. Asagi was too gorgeous…

The taller man chuckled before he placed a gentle kiss on Hyde’s lips.

Suddenly Asagi dropped onto his knees in front of Hyde, holding his not bandaged hand.

“Hyde… would you like to lie in bed with me, cuddle and eat popcorn while watching a movie?”

Hyde blinked, then he started laughing. Now that was quite a way of delivering ‘let’s take it slow’. He appreciated it though. Asagi really was a more than sweet guy it seemed. With a strange sense of humor… and a cat obsession. But sweet.

“I would love to”, he said happily, before pulling Asagi up for another
