My Sister's Wedding

Mar 19, 2007 15:34

Saturday March 17th (St Patrick's Day) was the day of my sister Leah and Jamie Clerk's wedding. The whole week had been storming and grey clouds above but on the day the sky was an amazing blue with a gentle breeze. We had roughly 100 guests and absolutely nothing went stray from plans.

Woke up at 9:30am to the sound of my brother Roy and my sister laughing in the kitchen. I came out in my white boilegs and t-shirt to join in. The siblings made a few jokes about my underwear before I went to get changed. Leah went over the road to Alpine park to help set up for the ceremony. We had hair appointments at 11:30am and come about 11am I realised my sister was sister was still helping to set up.

After a game of Leah, Rachael and I running around trying to find each other we headed off in Phil's car to the Bright Hair Salon. It was close to 2 hours before all three of us were done (and we were all being styled at the same time). We quickly scoffed down the subway we had gotten the boys to get us. Leah had her hair down and curled with her fringe pulled back for a little platform to slide her comb crown into. It also served as a setup for the hair flowers made by our aunty Dloris (Mrs Clause). Rachael and I had our hair up in a french twist/knot/cross bow. It was a mix of three different designs.

At 2:30pm the three of us and mum had make-up appointment. The stupid woman who did our make-up had waxed my lip a few days before hand (I usually do my lip myself) and she didn't even do it right. She left patches and the waxed she used made me break out around the corners of my lips. Luckily the make-up covered the redness... I still had bumps though. She ruined my fringe a little and was so slow doing the other's make-up that by the time she finished and Rachael and I called to be picked up it was like 15mins to the wedding.

4pm was the time for the wedding. Rachael and I arrived home about 3:45pm and both of us still had to get dressed, help Leah get dressed and Rachael still had to dress her 3 year old Jackie who was the flower girl. We got dressed as far as I know in time and crossed the road. Mum, Leah and I started crying before we left the house. Leah got teary, which made me cry which made mum sniffle. So Leah banished me to the bathroom until I could stop crying so she wouldn't start crying and ruin her make-up. So by the time 4:05 came around I had stopped enough to not have snot continously dripping down my face and was able to cross the road to the ceremony.

The ceremony was gorgeous. Jamie and Leah were glowing and both have never looked more beautiful. After the ceremony offically ended Leah and Jamie stood around and the groups of people attending the wedding were called up for group photos. We were trying to get photos of everyone who attended and decided this was the smartest way to go about it. After that was all done and over with we went to the dear farm for the reception. Weird how I knew everyone there but had nothing really to talk to anyone about and spent most of the night going from group to group sittng in on conversations inbetween sitting silently at the Bridal Table.
All together the night was fantastic. Leah and Jamie are now in Phuket for ten days. So far Leah's legs have swollen up and she flipped her jet ski.
