EDIT: He took down all his blogs about the CDs he was passing out. But he still admits that he did it. And he's started posting answers to his hate mail. I smell wank~~~!
I emailed the contact address from the Danger Crue website: information@maverick-dci.com. And I also sent a message to the band's myspace page, hoping that it could be forwarded to the legal department.
Oh yes. Please post it anywhere you see fit. I would love for Danger Crue to see 1)the fans will not stand for things like this, and 2)that they really should do something about it.
It sorta makes me feel like a "hypocrite" though, what with having their dvds and everything on my computer and sharing with other people, but...iono. I've bought 5 of their albums within two months and plan on buying so much more.
Well, at least I'm not like "O, I don't need to buy it when I can get it free from da interwebz 8D"
I know what you mean. I felt the same, which is why I had felt the need to explain myself and why I felt that what the group on myspace was doing was so much worse. It is a lot of grey area with the two. Some people may feel that what I do is just as bad, and that is their opinion. They are entitled to it. But I just think that there is a point when someone has gone too far, and I felt that the group on myspace has gone too far.
And yes, I have a blatant disgust for people who only download and don't support the artists at all. I buy what I can, but in many instances it has sold out before the word has even spread to America/whatever country the person lives in. If it is available to me, I buy it. I upload for people who tell me they would buy it if they knew that they would like it, or live somewhere where they simply don't have any other access to it. I believe there is a difference in what I do, and what these people are doing.
I just read through the entire Myspace (blogs, etc) and I mean, I understand a bit where he's coming from with trying to get them here...but wtf, fuck Portland. What about the rest of America too?!
I don't even see a huge problem with giving the venue manager a burned cd, because its for the actual purpose of direct promotion of the band with a venue. But the whole...burning a spindle of cd's and handing them out to anyone on the street...is just completely wrong. ._.
I made a post in the forum, and I hope people take a look D:
Well, originally he started that group to have TOC or MUCC add a Portland date on their tour, which I didn't mind so much because it was actually possible if he raised enough rawcus. But now that the tour is over, instead of giving up... it's becoming this grand thing to get Mucc specifically to play Portland and only Portland as /begin sarcasm/ they are the only city deserving to have MUCC all to themselves. /end sarcasm/. They played Seattle which is the larger city, and to be honest, closer to Portland that other people had to drive for the concert dates in their states.
To be honest, I think this person is just looking to be internet/locally famous as "the guy that brought MUCC to portland all by himself~". And he'll be damned if anyone knows a better way to do it, too.
Please let me know, thanks! D;
