Expression Through Music
It is not always easy to think of topics for this journal while keeping it family friendly and mildly entertaining for the masses. If anybody has any suggestions for possible topics tell me so I can decided whether or not they would work. Quick shoutout to my boys back home: the football game was awesome and I hope we have another before two more years pass by. Now for our featured topic: Expression Through Music.
Very often I find myself expressing how I feel or how I think through music. Whether it is just one line in a song or the entire song itself, I am able to express a complex thought or feeling into a couple of words with instruments in the background. Many people may disagree with me, and by all means do so if you like, but I believe that music is what makes us human. It is a gift to create music and for many it is the only way to express themselves fully to the outside world.
How does music affect your life? Does it influence you? Does it inspire or does it call for reflection? Music has always been significant in my life and it started at an early age for me. Being part of a musical family it is hard not to be influenced, but instead of becoming focused in one genre of music I have come to favor many genres and the mixing of different genres. Hoping to take my love for music to another level, I tried my hand at song writing and playing guitar. I have made more progress at playing the guitar than song writing, but I hope sooner or later I will write a song I actually like.
Listening to music is a personal hobby of mine. If I am in a certain mood or just want to reflect on things, I will choose certain songs that will express what I am thinking or feeling. I am sure many others have done it. I also know that people use music to remember certain events or people. It could be twenty years from now and if I heard "Good Riddance" by Green Day I will remember my years in college and the good times I had with friends.
I think what I want people to think about is how much does music play a part in their life? Is there a particular song you listen to remember something or someone? Have you ever been inspired by a song?
