Someone out there with better Chinese than mine can help me with this translation - I’d be grateful. We were alerted to a story in the Chinese news services about the twins, and when I was told about it, I about fell over; it was massively messed up.

Recently, North South East West magazine published an article titled "Twin sisters move to Chicago". The two mentioned were two orphans who were adopted from Jiangmen City's Social Welfare Bureau. They were adopted separately by two American families in 2000. The article said, in 2005 a meeting allowed these two who were twin sisters to miraculously meet. Hey, that clears a lot of things up. So they didn't note the same name 'Meredith' for the girls, they used their middle names (Grace versus Ellen). The stuff about WHEN in that day our Mere was found was total news to me; we knew *where* (the 'holiday village' entrance was right next door to the orrpahange, or 'social welfare institute', similar to our old 'county orphans and old folks home' sort of thing. I had heard that she was in cruddy shape when they found her, and this backs that up.

I wonder what the Xibei Affairs Bureau refers to. Cops?

It's a 派出所 paichusuo, which now that I check is a... local police station. Sorry, I'd never realized that a paichusuo is a cop shop. That's what I get for doing the whole thing in one fell swoop.
