GM and Chrysler in a nutshell:
I was asked about this earlier today at a family gathering; my understanding is that Chrysler’s only option is to go to Fiat for life support and that the government will assist *somewhat* in that arrangement, and that GM is going to go into some kid of para-bankruptcy, where it will be split into NEW GM (Caddy,Buick, Chevy, GMC Trucks) and DEAD GM (everything else, including the obligations, to be chunked off into pieces and liquidated / sold out). There is a fuse on this to take place, supposedly before July 1.
The big deal on this from my mind will be the abrogation or reorganization of deals with the dealerships, suppliers, and so on that assumed that People Would Buy A Heck Of A Lot More Cars Than They Have Been.
