(1) The Maytag front loading washer we’ve had since we moved in here started smoking like mad this morning, and I had to cut it down at the end of the spin cycle…there’s a call in to the repair guys, who are supposed to come over this morning. They say it’s the motor, and there’s a parts warranty on that for 10 years, so we’re good on that - only

When my second clothes washer (the first being a hand-me-down which didn't last long) went south I didn't even check to see if it was repairable. It was close to twenty years old, anyway. I found a high-efficiency front-loader on clearance at Lowes. Figure I'll save enough over the lifetime of this machine to pay for it.
