Smoke on the washer…

(1) The Maytag front loading washer we’ve had since we moved in here started smoking like mad this morning, and I had to cut it down at the end of the spin cycle…there’s a call in to the repair guys, who are supposed to come over this morning.   They say it’s the motor, and there’s a parts warranty on that for 10 years, so we’re good on that - only ( Read more... )

When my second clothes washer (the first being a hand-me-down which didn't last long) went south I didn't even check to see if it was repairable. It was close to twenty years old, anyway. I found a high-efficiency front-loader on clearance at Lowes. Figure I'll save enough over the lifetime of this machine to pay for it.

Well, we got top of the line Maytags for washer, dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer. There was some method to our madness.

You're not supposed to let the magic smoke out. Things stop working when the magic smoke leaks out.

On the bright side, you're occupying a Maytag repairman. That guy should be beyond excited to have something to do, right?
