The neighbors were astonished at the third recent downpour and flood in the area; they say it’s the worst they’ve seen in 10-plus years. (The one that said that has an instant four-foot wide stream going through her yard.) We got lucky re the sump pump, but the back yard filled up again and thus the basement carpet got hit again. After I send this, I gotta move the turbofan around and see how much can be done before I crash for the night. I’m calling in to the office - I need tomorrow for cleanup purposes.

Many area streets and viaducts were flooded, as small streams and creeks continued to rise and flood surrounding areas, according to the weather service.
Area underpasses and viaducts were flooding throughout the Chicago area, including 135th Street at Spyglass Road in Palos Heights and U.S. Hwy. 30 between Briggs Street and Hillcrest Road, according to police. Parts of Roosevelt Road in Wheaton, 63rd Street in Downers Grove-where Webster Creek was out of its banks-as well as 135th Street in Crestwood also were among streets flooded.
Meanwhile, flood warnings were extended until 10 a.m. Monday for much of northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana. Several area rivers and streams were coming close to flood stage, with flooding reported on the DuPage River at Bolingbrook and the Fox River at Montgomery and in New Munster, Wisconsin, near the illinois border. Flooding was expected up and down the Des Plaines and Fox rivers and in areas including Thorn Creek in Thornton over the next two days, according to the National Weather Service.
The DuPage River at Bolingbrook was rising swiftly toward major flood stage, hitting 22.42 feet just after 7 p.m., well above the flood stage of 19-1/2 feet, according to the Weather Service.
