- The real heart of the sitdown strike at Republic Windows in Chicago wasn’t the bank, it was the owner trying to get out from under his legal obligations to his workers, setting up a new business that was non-union out of town, and demanding from the bank that it pay for his BMW and Mercedes cars or no deal.
