Taking Edwards off the VP list:
Turns out that he did have an affair with that woman, even if that’s not his child. Holy crap. As one commenter said in a blog:
I can’t believe he even ran for President. What a clown. Imagine if he was the nominee right now? We’d be guaranteed a McCain win. He risked the whole country on his ego.
Pretty much. At this time, I have absolutely no idea who Obama’s going to pick. I’ll still say that Clark would be a very nice bet. General Anthony Zinni would be an interesting pick as well.
Bayh and Kaine don’t do much of anything for me. What Obama needs is a fighter and good campaigner who can help him deal with his Bubba problem, in general. Edwards would have done this. Sebelius, who isn’t bad, is not that energetic of a campaigner.
David Bonior, Edwards’ campaign manager for his 2008 presidential bid, said Friday he was disappointed and angry after hearing about Edwards’ confession.
“Thousands of friends of the senators and his supporters have put their faith and confidence in him and he’s let him down,” said Bonior, a former congressman from Michigan. “They’ve been betrayed by his action.”
Asked whether the affair would damage Edwards’ future aspirations in public service, Bonior replied: “You can’t lie in politics and expect to have people’s confidence.”
