Howdy y'all!
i really havent updated in a while. Its been a busy month of June, so come with me, if you will, and lets take a walk down memory lane.
:)
The month started off innocently enough with my long awaited promotion to Corporal. The ceremony went by innocently enough with a small speech by the promoting officer, the reading of my warrant, my reciting of the Oath of Enlistment (a custom when getting promoted to the NCO ranks) and concluded with a small speech from me to the 20 someodd people who attended.
4 days later i was off to Corporal's Leadership Course. An unknown fact about this was that as a Lance Corporal, I asked to go to this meant-for corporals course whether i got promoted or not. Luckly i got promoted when i did. Corporal's Course was indeed the shit. Over the 3 week duration of the course i learned all the vital information that a corporal of marines should learn. Included were Marine Corps history, customs and courtesies, how to conduct personal inspection on your troops, sword manual, how to drill a platoon, the counseling system, and alot more that i dont feel like listing. I met a ton of awesome people there, and hope to see them all again soon.
Upon my completion of Corporal's Course, i returned to my section to find that alot of things happaned while i was gone. Most notably was the announcement that my sergeant would be leaving us in 3 weeks to report to his MECEP prep school which was part of his journey to becoming a marine corps officer. I was greatly saddened by this. It wasnt until yesterday however that I found out that I too will be leaving the friendly confines of the Marine Corps Combat Development Command sometime during the first week of August to new frontiers at Training and Education Command (also located here in Quantico) Im excited about the change but at the same time i'm a little scared. Scared because this will be my first true test of my leadership abilities and everything i learned at Corporal's Course as i will be in charge of 4 marines.
If god likes me i wont do too bad=)
That in a nutshell as been my my marine corps life in the month of June.
In my personal life ive finally settled down. I met a girl and am not ashamed to proclaim to the world im in love with her. Whats even better is she loves me way more than i do, and wants nothing more than to make me happy. She even started to elarn to cook just so she can cook for me=)
So i guess the way to a man's heart really is through his stomach lol
wel that in a nutshell is my life as of July 7th.
Now i gotta figure out what to get my brother for his birthday=)
deuces
