Domestic Goddess Weekend

Feb 18, 2008 21:37

I did laundry, cleaned the apartment, and cooked. Three day weekends are great for cooking extra stuff. I made a delicious chicken pasta salad which I will have to eat all by myself since Brooke doesn't like mayo. I hope I don't get tired of it before it goes bad. If so, I'll know to halve the recipe next time. I also made a delicious cheesecake, not as delicious as ru_debega's super secret family recipe cheesecake, but still quite delicious. For dinner this evening, I made orange-glazed halibut. It was very meh. I'll certainly eat the leftovers, but I don't think I'll make it again. This is quite unfortunate as it's really easy to make (15 minutes start to finish) and low fat. The search for new recipes to add into my regular repertoire will continue whenever I get the urge to go on a cooking binge again. While looking through the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook I did come across a recipe for oven-fried pork chops that I had forgotten I enjoyed. Once I get through all the leftovers in the fridge, I'll probably make that next. Yay food!

Also this weekend, we tried out a different pizza delivery called Pizza Movers. Good pizza, ok breadsticks, delivery person who seemed a bit touched. I'd be willing to order from them again. For our movie viewing pleasure, we watched Young Frankenstein, a fine comedy by Mel Brooks. I wish he would do more movies instead of converting his existing movies into Broadway musicals.

Tomorrow morning I have a dentist appointment, so my weekend gets to last another half day. Hopefully she won't find any cavities, but I haven't been to the dentist in a while, so I'm not really confident of that outcome.
