The big net conference day is over. The two conferences both went well over all. My part was probably better in the morning because by the time we got to my part in the afternoon net conference, I wasn't sure if I was using real words any more. If you think teaching the same class twice a day is bad, how about giving the same 30 minute lecture twice after hearing someone else's 90 minute lecture first each time. Stupefying does not quite cover it. Now I can get to work on improving the analysis tool and not worry about how to tell people I'm going to improve the analysis tool. The only other thing I did at work today was calling Financial Services at the University of Maryland. I still haven't received a bill for the semester, and payment is due on the 20th. There is a link to pay online with a credit card, but it's expensive enough that it requires extra paperwork for work to pay for it. According to the university's records, I have been sent a bill. I asked them to send me another one just in case the first one doesn't get here. I could pay the tuition myself, but I don't think the paperwork to get reimbursed $3100 will be very pleasant. Also I don't really want to spend that much of my own money if I don't have to.
I got up early to vote before work this morning. The polls opened at 6, and I was there about 6.05. There wasn't much of a wait, so I got my "I voted in Arlington" sticker before 6.15. Coworker J had volunteered to help at her polling place, and she had to be there at 4.45 this morning. She is such a better person than I am regarding civic duty. This is the first time I've managed to even vote. I ended up going with Obama because people who support him seem to be so much more enthusiastic about him than Clinton's supporters seem about her.
I'm sure many of you have read about the Anonymous protests at Scientology buildings around the world a few days ago. There's another protest on March 15 in DC (possibly more places as well), and
bakanaonna,
hakudoushi, and I are totally going. I am soliciting suggestions for posters and costumes. In one of the pictures from the London protest, someone had a sign that read "Down with this sort of thing," and I found that quite amusing. However I would a bit copycatish using his exact wording. Hmmm. We have about a month to figure it out. Costume options will be heavily dependent on the weather, but hopefully it will be warm enough to wear something fun.
