Today I Am 28

Happy birthday to me!

So I am finally getting around to a detailed post of all those pictures I posted last time.

Comic Con was great fun. I finally got to meet Brooke's friend, Christina, who is a colorist for Marvel and a generally hilarious person. I also got to meet Cary Elwes and James Marsters, and I was groped by Pedobear. Somewhere out there is a picture of me with a face of horror and confusion being groped by Pedobear. As best I can tell, this was meant to be a group picture, and Pedobear grabbed me instead of the other girl that was supposed to be in the picture. That's probably my best story from Comic Con. That and Tim Piotrowski drawing Kool Aid in a bikini for me to illustrate the transgender fail that happened in the LGBT panel. The fail being we never got around to discussing transgender creators and characters in comics. It was otherwise a great panel.

I had fun helping out at Boo at the Zoo this year. I got to drive a golf cart and carry a radio. It was pretty sweet. I'm hoping they let me do that again next year. So much nicer than dealing with entitled kids and parents.

The Rally to Restore Sanity was quite an event. We had 4 friends stay with us for the weekend, and the weather was great. I volunteered for the event and got assigned to help people in and out of the viewing area for people with disabilities. I got to yell at people outside the barricade to make space for people trying to get into the area, and I got to watch most of the rally from the area while sitting down. I enjoyed myself thoroughly. The cops helping with crowd control commented on how well I yelled at people. It's all due to my excellent theater training and a love of yelling at people who piss me off.

I took today off from work so that I could have a 4 day weekend for my birthday. It's been pretty awesome so far. Tomorrow, Brooke and I are going to see Sarah Vowell talk and get our books signed by her. Sunday, our friend, Toni, is having her own birthday party at a bowling alley. I look forward to failing in a hilarious fashion.

For Baton Rouge area people, Uncle Jim's big Christmas party is December 18 this year. You are invited. Send me an email for the specific time and address. Also, I will be home for Christmas Dec 17-28. I will be in Mobile for part of that, but I'm not sure exactly when. I hope we can get together for merrymaking.
