Business and Busyness

Wow. I have actual important, DLA-impacting work coming across my desk now. Only took like three months. :P I also have another new addition to my desk: a framed picture of the Kate (which, yes, I have already begun showing off). Now I just need to get this Annapolis picture (still my favorite of us) blowed up and framed too.

This is going to be quite the busy month. First I have the aforementioned work I'm (finally!) getting involved in, but since that falls within the 10-11 hours I devote to getting to, being in, and leaving from the office every day already, that's not really what I'm talking about.

This coming weekend is our annual Spring Conference at church, which being a member of the Fellowship Committee (one of only two males and by far the youngest member...a little scary sometimes), I am helping organize. I have to set everything up by Friday evening and help prepare some food. Not a bad thing, just coming up much quicker than I thought.

Weekend after that is the wedding of a girl I have known since I was born. Literally. We've known this family my whole life and she and I were scheduled to be born the same week. (As it happened, she was quite early and I dozed for longer than I should have, proving that time management concepts begin in the womb.) I have to fly there Saturday (May 8th) morning, attend the wedding like two hours after I land, then drive back Sunday night...from North Carolina. And be at work the next morning. Yuck.

Then the next weekend, we leave for a cruise to the Caribbean. Other than the possibility of running into Jack Sparrow, I'm really not super-excited about it. "You're not excited about a CRUISE?! You are muy, muy stupid, Wolf Man!" Yes, I know. I really can't complain. But I don't like heat, I don't like beaches, and I don't like how virtually every activity on the trip will involve one (or both) of those things. I'd rather go on one of those New England cruises, or better still, one that leaves from Vancouver. But again, I really can't complain.

What I can and will complain about is right after the cruise. We are scheduled to fly back Sunday the 23rd and not get in until about 10pm. The problem with that is that I need to be in Richmond for a week-long class that begins Monday at 8am, 10 hours after we land. So I'll be coming home and repacking and driving down to Richmond and trying to do it all in a way that I still get a decent night's sleep before the class starts the next day. THAT I can whine about.

Anyways, the class goes until that Friday, the 28th (yes, this IS now nearly the end of May), and then we drive back either that evening or the following morning.

Then, I get to catch up on about a month's worth of sleep.

Oh, and if this sounds broken up a bit it's because I started it and left and came back three or four times. So...yeah.
