Yesterday was Pioneer Day here in Utah. Really not a big deal unless you're Mormon. They had more fireworks today than they had for the 4th of July. I spent yesterday at the Newman Center with a bunch of guys from the Knights of Columbus doing some demolition and construction work. Here is what we did:
1. All the new rocks for the landscaping were put in and the bulk of the west hill down to the upper parking lot was mulched.
2. In the old baby-sitting room next to the old social hall the nasty old blue carpet was completely removed.
3. In the back classroom of the basement (room 10 or 11 I believe) all of the old styrofoam was completely removed
4. All of the old ceiling tiles, replete with mouse droppings and other detritus were removed.
5. New framing was put up in the same room.
6. New electrical work was put into the same room.
7. New insulation was installed into that room ( a LOT of work got done in that room today).
8. Upstairs on the main floor the old partitioning wall by the former parish office was completely demolished.
9. A new, 1/2 wall was framed for the small flight of stairs leading down.
10. Yet more electrical work was accomplished.
11. All debris were removed and the rooms cleaned after the day's work was finished.
Yup, it was crazy mad but a lot of good work got done. We still have a bunch of drywalling to do in Eamonn's room (the basement room) but we'll steadily work on getting it done.
