Today Bry, Frank and I went out to Beaver Creek Lodge and rented snowmobiles for 1/2 the day. We were originally slated to get three 800 cc machines but, since Bry is only 15 and doesn't have his licence yet, we ended up with me getting an 800 cc machine and Frank and Bry riding double on a 600 cc machine. Oh man was that a beautiful machine. It was like the hand of God had come down and was pushing my ass over the snow. Yes, this was my first time out on a snowmobile. Daymn was it awesome. I got the machine I was on up to 75 mph on some of the open flat parts. I even managed to go into a few off-trail areas as well as up a few steep hills. I also managed, on my second steep hill of the day, to get the machine totally stuck in the snow. Fortunately uncle Frankie was there to lend me a hand shoving the machine outta the snow it had dug into and back down the hill. We managed to ride from Beaver Creek Lodge out into Idaho and then over to Bear Lake. We ran out of the national forest and into the town by Bear Lake and then it was time to turn around and head back to the lodge. At this point Frank and I switched machines and I rode on the back of the double (with Bry driving, eep!) for a little bit. Bry and I switched turns driving a few times before it was time to head back. The trail back was super washboard bumpy and the 600 machine was bottoming-out more than a little bit. This forced us to go much more slowly than I would have liked (although Bry didn't mind going a bit slower). When we were back at the ski mountain we had made a bit of a wrong turn and we had to turn to get back on the trail to the lodge. This entailed going up yet another steep hill. This is where Bry was yelling at me "I'll get off and walk up the hill! Let me get off!" to which I replied "HANG ON! LEAN FORWARD!" and we charged straight up that hill to meet up with uncle Frank and head on back to the lodge. After checking in all of our stuff we headed home for showers and then out to supper at Café Sabor then to Wal-Mart to get Bry some wrist-guards for tomorrow's knuckledragging session then home to watch some Olympics and crash out. So, in that spirit, goodnight all.
