Last semester of undergrad!

Jan 13, 2009 07:07

Well, here it is. My final semester of undergrad at VCU. Holy cow. Where did the time go? I feel like it was yesterday and I was entering Rhoads Hall on the 14th floor to begin Freshman year in the fall of 2005. Now, here, Spring, 2009, and come May 16th, I will have a Bachelor's Degree in Science. This is life altering, scary stuff. Not to mention everyone I've talked to thinks the Application for Graduation is confusing as all get out. I should probably set up a meeting with my advisor sometime before next Friday when everything is due. Wow, it's all coming to an end (for now).

Speaking of graduating, you know what comes after that? The real world, you know that place that college is supposed to prepare you for, but kinda, sorta, doesn't? I'm not ready. I'm working on several possibilties to fill in for the year (or more, but let's not think negatively) between my undergrad and medical school. I won't explain them here, I like to keep things to myself just so if things don't pan out, I can stew about it myself and not hear it from anyone else. I guess the biggest thing stopping me right now, is money. My parents have my sister in college now too, and my brother is about a year out. Obviously, I completely understand and agree that my brother and sister should be able to have the type of education that I have been lucky enough to have. I'm trying to go it on my own, but you can't claim financial dependence until you're 24....I'll leave that one alone.

So, UNC has lost twice in its first two ACC conference games to Boston College and Wake Forrest. This excites me more than you know. Not only has UNC lost two games and is no longer Number 1 atop the polls, but it's showing that the ACC is back to the prestige it had a couple of years ago when every team is on par and the conference gets a solid 5-6 teams into the NCAA tournament every year. The only team that doesn't seem too legit is UVA, but we'll see how everything pans out. People like to believe the Big East has the best conference because they have so many teams in the conference that are in the Top 25, but there are more teams there than in the ACC. I say the ACC has the best quality basketball, but maybe I'm a little biased. :)

Went to the gym this morning at 6 a.m. Got disgusted by my weight. I am getting on top of this shit and getting back into the shape I was when I played volleyball in high school. Did a half hour of cardio on an Arc Trainer and did 1.64 miles and burned 467. I think that's a pretty decent start.

I'm the only one awake in my apartment, guess it's time to go get some breakfast and get ready for my first real day of classes (all 3 of them).

All in all, I guess life's not so bad as a Senior in College.

acc, basketball, vcu, college
