So, I made it through Summer I relatively unscathed:
* A100 - Intro to Astronomy: The Solar System - A-
* M365 - Intro to Probability and Statistics - A-
Current GPA: 3.536
I started A105, Stars & Galaxies, on Friday. It's pretty slow, as you'd expect. But the instructor is pretty friendly. Today we had a discussion after class about multicultural interpretations of scientific data and the need for greater diversity in STEM fields. He's of mixed native descent, and I thought he had some good ideas.
I've been chasing around the last few days trying to put together my Fall semester. I had wanted very much to take M380, The History of Mathematics, which would give me badly-needed Intensive Writing credit, and also clinch a math minor for me. It looks like the waitlist for that is going to be way to long for me to get in, though. This leaves me scrambling. If I decide not to get the math minor, I can finish just by taking a single sufficiently difficult CS course in the fall (I already have one in mind), and some other course to get the intensive writing credit. But seriously, the History of Math is the most interesting I.W. course in the catalogue this fall. Just today it occurred to me that if I thought of a good spin, I might get a prof to add an IW component to some other class, just for me. Or maybe even a 1-hour IW independent study. But making any of that happen will require a lot more legwork.
Right now, it's looking like my Fall will be:
* P556 - Real-Time & Embedded Programming (aka, the Golf Cart Class)
* M403 - Modern Algebra (aka, Algebra for highschool teachers)
* Q240 - Intro to Philosophy for Cognitive Science (I've done this material before, several times, but it's the second-least-offensive IW course this fall. If I can get in.)
* Something else that strikes my fancy, to make me be a full-time student so that I can borrow money, since I won't have enough time to work a significant amount of hours with this schedule.
Up until yesterday, I was planning on my Fall being:
* M380 - History of Mathematics (with IW)
* P556 - Golf Cart Class
So, things are very much up in the air right now. Wish me luck!
