Rain

So this morning on KQED they were saying we were (at 8:30, when I left for work) on the tail end of the worst rain storm the Bay Area has seen in years. I was here for that one, too. It was nuts - there was actually thunder (this is no big deal to Midwesterners, but out here, thunder is thought to be a sign of Armageddon).

When I got to work this morning, the gate guard told me to turn around and go home. Power was out throughout Menlo Park, and SLAC was affected too. SLAC's website was down all day. Now it consists only of a posting about the outage. They apparently haven't found the problem yet, and so repairs are ongoing.

I enjoyed hanging out with Anami today, mostly watching Stargate Atlantis and listening to the rain.

On the other hand, the poor physicists are getting kicked in the teeth by this, and that bums me out.

I hope I get to go to work tomorrow.

rain, physics, work
