Sometimes you think you've found a real friend, a new person for a new part of your life, when in actuality, it's just a phase on their part and they'll return to whatever they were doing before with very little remembrance of your existence.

They don't realize the difference.

You're left wondering what you did wrong. How you screwed up. Why they opted otherwise. And what in the world could drive them to make those choices.
