EL v. GR bars
so for years I've been hearing how great GR bars are. I have been to several and decided to end the debate b/t GR and EL bars.
Time of the week: Fri&Sat GR bars are best; Sun-Thurs EL bars rock. the week days even thurs-GR bars are 1/2 empty! where are all the GVSU, GRCC, Hope, Calvin blah blah blah people
Food after bars: East lansing- no competition. GR just has a pizza and a hotdog vendor, LAME!!! EL has actual buildings with 4 walls, heat, and great food...mmmm Georgio's mmmm Pancheros! oh yeah and Jimmy Johns and Gumby's!
Drink Prices: EL there are ton of specials and half off nights. GR:Sun-Thurs when no one goes there are specials. Like tonite I had $1.25 bud light drafts, not too shabby!
Parking/Getting to the bar: EL! we have CATA and Big Daddy we also have the Unv to park at for free and many sidestreets. GR some side streets which fill fast then $6-9 depending if Van Andel has stuff going or taxis costs ~$12 for 5miles from downtown (where I live).
Variety of people: well both have college students. but GR tends to have older people at some establishments and more diversity as far as ethnicity etc.
Sophistication of the bar: EL haha did I say sophistication! GR has The B.O.B. and Monte's which are a little nicer.
Clubs/Dance floor: GR has Taps (small floor) and the BOB (several floors, Clash is HUGE but lots of techno). EL has Dirty Dollar (not too bad, but damn there a lot of nasty dudes to fend off). Sparty's-wait that's torn down. Oh and my fav Spiral (which is great but if no one else is dancing then u are like a gopher dancing in a cage-all watchin ya)
Number of bars: ok haven't counted but I think GR has more just more spread out/little clusters.
ok enough of that. my feet ache from partying with Nikkia all nite at Taps. phew!
