So December 8th is the due date of my first large (ie 3500 word) written assessment. I'm quite nervous. I haven't done proper 'research' for a paper in over a year and I never felt I had a strong academic writing style. And now I'm in the UK, where it's probably different that the US/Berkeley standards I have been meeting. Ugh. Stress! Lizzy said this to comfort me:
"it's who you know [...] they cannot fail a child of rosemary"
:D let's hope she's right and not over-estimating the international influence of Dr. RA Joyce (she probably is).
In other news, one of the girls i've met at the Institute of Archaeology (from here on out in any journal entry referred to as IoA), is from Norway. She is apparently an editor for University of Oslo's archaeology journal, which is produced, edited, and its content written by grad students. She asked me if I would like to write a paper for the 2007 issue which is focusing on field archaeology--which is my MA program, and why she asked me (it wouldn't be due until March 1st, which is PLENTY of time). I told her I would love too and that it would probably be about laser scanning. She said it's circulated to several universities in Norway and most archaeologists in the country also read it. So that's cool! And Donna, the UCB phd student I was scanning rock art for is still interested in writing something with me for publication in an archaeology journal as well. ooo, my name in print! that would be so awesome! so keep your fingers crossed that one, or both, of these happens.
