juniority Nozomu Kotaki: Ever since I was little, I’ve often watched television shows where people do monomane [impersonations/mimicry] and listened to the talents sing, so I know a lot of sort of old-fashioned songs. I also listen to CDs that are meant for people who are around 35 years old. I’m told that’s suspicious for someone whose around 14, but no one ever tells me in detail what songs I’m supposed to listen to (smile).
> > If I look at Masahiro Matsuoka-kun, I notice how cool his drums are. When I was in 5th grade at elementary school, I was a candidate for being a drummer in the school recital. I knocked out the competition in the test to see whether I could perfectly follow a rhythm, and I was able to become a drummer just like I wanted. During the show, it felt so good to end the performance with a “bang!” from the cymbals by my hands! Right now, the instrument I’m interested in is the bass. Kami-chan told me: “you’re tall, so the bass suits you,” but before that he said: “you have a kind face, so you should play the keyboard.” Which one should it be (smile)? Someday, I want to challenge writing song lyrics. And then, if I received music for he lyrics from Big Sempai Kamiyama, it’d be the best! I my life, music is an important existence that gives me energy and makes me gives me a fun, cheerful feeling even when I’m lonely. I love music, so I always want to be close to it.

Yūto Shingaki: My love for music won’t lose to anybody! I can definitely say that I listen to music more than anyone, so I think it’s clear. The reason for this is, when I was in 5th grade in elementary school, I heard a rap song and thought that being able to sing so quickly was amazing, so I started practicing it. I became a slave to my love of music and entered the great jungle of listening to bands and reggae. Lately I’ve been into Japanese rap and rock; there’s always a song playing in my house. My parents told me gratefully: “thanks to you, we’ve been able to hear all kinds of music.” There are also times that they’ve criticized me though. Telling me things like: “this song is just a bunch of shouting!” (smile)
> > I started playing the guitar last spring. My father kindly taught me how. The first song I was ever able to play was [Anniversary] by the Kinki Kids. I probably knew it because I’ve been listening to it for many years; also, I recently challenged writing rap lyrics. They aren’t anything good enough to present, but writing them is so much fun!
> > To me, music is life. I listen to it constantly, and I also check for new songs on the radio. On my cellphone, I made a list called: “songs to sing at karaoke.” For a person like me, there’s nothing else, right? That’s how much I love music!

Shinpei Takemoto: This year, I’ll have owned my portable mp3 player for 3 years, and I’m happy that it has finally become able to understand me. When I’m listening to songs on “shuffle mode,” it plays songs that it thinks I want to hear at the perfect time. As expected from my mp3 player ♪.
> > Out of all the activities I do as a Jr. my favorite one is singing. Our original songs often have a cheerful [smile! smile!] feeling to them, but in the future I also want ones that have a sick/cool feeling. At last year’s solo concert, Kami-chan, Ryūsei, and I sang KAT-TUN’s [Sadistic Love]. That song had a completely different feeling to it, and it was interesting. Someday I want to create my own original song. The truth is, I’ve started writing fragments of the lyrics, but it’s hard because it’s a song about cheering others on. Finding the right words seems futile, so I feel badly. Conversely, when I write a love song, the words come out smoothly. I guess I’m suited to love songs ❤.
> > Recently, I’ve been thinking about this intently. Music is like a lover. It always pulls me closer, and gives me energy and courage. What would I do is music disappeared from this world? I probably wouldn’t be able to live…
