(Sorry if you see this more than once!)
Hello! I'm not sure when I posted here last, but it was probably during my last journal back in 2010, under the name "intracellular". I've decided to give Moleskines a go for both my sketchbook and Embodiment project this time - I really love them, but the paper in my Embodiment one (a notebook, I think?) is a little too thin for me so I may go for the sketchbook next time. I cake my journal full of arty stuff no matter what type of journal I have - I really love the feel of a worked-in page.
A quote from a poem by Novala Takemoto -
EGL has the whole thing translated, if you're interested.
Sometimes I doodle Lolita fashion coordinates. It doesn't exactly give me an "image" of what the outfit'll look like but it does get it out of my head. I've sold that dress since, since I didn't get a lot of wear out of it, but it was nice.
I mess about with a lot of watercolours, too.
My grandfather passed away in 2006. He was like a second father to me.
Regardless of what you think of her comedy, Margaret Cho is a kickass motivational speaker and I love hearing what she has to say.
Brave was a good movie. Not Pixar's best, but worth a watch and definitely worth getting dolled up in tartan frills for.
I love Distress Ink, but it didn't work too well on the Boots-printed photos - too glossy. :c
I love how the collage itself turned out, though. The photograph of me next to that crazy 5ft icecream was taken in Barmouth, in Wales. It had been a popular family destination of ours, but we haven't had a proper holiday in years. This was a recent day trip and the first time I'd visited with my fiance, so I had to commemorate it in some way.
Oh, and a funny story related to the photo above: I visited my hometown yesterday. I don't live there currently but it's a short bus-ride away from where my parents are, so I thought I'd visit and pick up some stuff from the art store. The girl on the counter looked at me for a few seconds, and then asked me if I was in Barmouth a few weeks ago. Turns out she had been there too, with her boyfriend, and had actually seen me getting that picture taken. She'd told her boyfriend that she felt she knew me from somewhere but couldn't put her finger on it. I couldn't help but laugh. I didn't think I'd ever be that recognisable!
If you're interested in seeing my past stuff, my Flickr gallery is here, with
over 170 photos of journal prawn. I'm not a big Flickr user but I do use it for my journal things (and occasionally illustration), so feel free to friend me if you wanna.
