Tomorrow is Election Day

Sep 12, 2011 22:21

The unexpected has become the expected, so expect the expected tomorrow. Two Congressional special elections, one in NY-09 and the other NV-02, will roll tomorrow, along with six special elections for the New York Assembly, the latter of which I know nothing about except that most of them seem to be in or around New York City.

Unless all the pollsters are to end up with egg on their autodialers, the Republican, Bob Turner, will expectedly but unexpectedly win in NY-09 against Dave Weprin, being up by 6% or thereabouts in all the recent polling. Blame it on Israel, gay marriage, Obama, the economy or, most likely, Canada.

In Nevada, Amodei, the Republican, has been up since the beginning over Marshall, but keeps getting more up. Now at +13% according to PPP, it would take a repeal of the Law of Large Numbers to change that result. Of course it's only a matter of time before Republicans are publicly and proudly stating their belief that it's really only a Theory of Large Numbers, but they haven't quite gotten around to it yet. (They have a lot more of science to disavow first, to be fair).
