Who Knew?

The John Birch Society still exists.

Not having heard it mentioned in many years, I was surprised to see a reference to it lately. I wonder if younger people have ever heard of it?

Without looking, which of these policies is not a (listed) JBS goal?

The John Birch Society was pretty popular in Wyoming when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s. Some John Bircher had a huge "Get US out of the United Nations" billboard on his property.

My point exactly. They seem to have vanished from the public eye.

Oh, we're meeting at the courthouse at 8:00 tonight.
You just come in the door and take the first turn to the right.
Be careful when you get there; we'd hate to be bereft.
But we're taking down the names of everybody turning left.

Oh, we're the John Birch Society, the John Birch Society
Fighting for the right to fight the right fight for the right.
We're the John Birch Society; there's so much to do.
Have you heard they're serving vodka at the WCTU?

For years after I moved to the Bay Area in the early '70s, there was a John Birch Society storefront at Solano and San Pablo, long since gone now.

It's amazing how well those goals line up with those of the Republican party.

This may explain what happened to all the Birchers. They are still around, they just call themselves Republicans instead.
