One more such victory...

It's called a Pyrrhic victory, and for good reason.

"... Pyrrhus replied to one that gave him joy of his victory that one
more such victory would utterly undo him. For he had lost a great
part of the forces he brought with him, and almost all his particular
friends and principal commanders...On the other hand, as from a
fountain continually flowing out of the city, the Roman camp was
quickly and plentifully filled up with fresh men, not at all abating
in courage for the loss they sustained, but even from their very anger
gaining new force and resolution to go on with the war."

Napoleon, when he won the Battle of Borodino in 1812, had the
intelligence to realize what a massive defeat he had suffered. But he
did not have the wisdom nor the courage nor the temperament to retreat
in good order despite the Russian withdrawl; instead he chose to
challenge the Russian winter rather than the Russian Army, with
predictable (and disastrous for him) consequences.

Hillary Clinton had another such victory in Pennslyvania recently.

Ten delegates to the good, tens of millions of dollars of supporters'
money down the proverbial television and consultant drain, and
quantities of political mud thrown around in amounts as to make even
the New York Times (a paper which has endorsed her) stand up and take
notice later, what has she gained?

Supposedly the right, as it were, to continue. The right to demand of
her supporters more treasure; the right to demand of her volunteers
more blood (methaphorically speaking), sweat and ultimately, tears.

Hillary Clinton is intelligent enough, just as King Pyrrhus and
Napoleon were, to understand the situation. But she does not have the
wisdom, nor the temperament, nor the sort of advisors who are willing
to stand up to her, to make the only sensible call, orderly withdrawl
instead of ruinous defeat.

Thank God for global warming.
