So, I've been reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer the past couple days. (That was my first mistake)
And you know what, I liked it. Aliens taking over the human population, the struggle, the drama, the whatever. But then I got halfway through it and I felt this unease in my heart, a familiar agitation I've not felt for awhile. Something was very wrong, and at one specific point in the book I realized....
It was Twilight...but with aliens.
And then my soul died.
Granted, Wanderer (the main character/alien) was a little different than Bella considering she had another PERSON inside her, but it was all there. The hopeless infatuations, the self sacrificing bullcrap, the weird quirks, the horrendous love triangle between a dark and brooding savior and a cute, happy go lucky friend that wants to be more, and who has a terribly OC fit when she tries to ultimately sacrifice herself.
Oh, I'm on to you, Meyer.
OH GOD AND THE ENDING!!!! Even though I haven't read Breaking Dawn yet, I'm pretty sure she did the same thing with both endings: completely ruin the beliefs and character of the characters to make a happy ending that really just made ME not happy reading it.
And I could have read The Book Thief, but I read this instead. (That was my second mistake)
;_;
