So I got chatting with the cousins yesterday. This coming after a voicemail of "Yo. Are you alive? Haven't seen you in awhile."
In the return phone call, I noted that we are approaching the part of the calendar where we help the kid move back from RI down to NJ. This led to an attempt to book a room at the local Hampton Inn for one evening, so as to make the somewhat gradual move home a little easier on everyone. Bzzzzzzz. Weekend at end of exam week. Minimum two night stay. Access denied.
Big surprise. (not!)
I just got the directive. Book two rooms there for May 2008! Yeah, that's her graduation. The Hampton Inn website won't let me reserve rooms past a year out. So I've told my cousin that we just have to hit the website in May or so, and then make it happen.
Exactly what I expected this morning...wake up at 5am and be booking hotel rooms for over 13 months out...who does that?
It is very strange for me to be thinking that far ahead, but in light of the fact that I can't get a room up there now, and that people have figured the game out, I get it now. Graduation day will be here before we know it. Minimum family attendance at graduation will be six people. So we'll be the smart ones and book super-early.
