How much of a surprise is it to everyone that I did hardly any shopping while I was in Hong Kong??
In fact, I spent more money in Changi Airport during our stopover than I did in Hong Kong. For some reason (blame it on the weak Australian dollar maybe?) everything I wanted to buy was around the same price as I'd seen in Australia. This, plus anything I did want to buy was still so obsenely expensive that I'd be eating two-minute noodles for months to prevent the bank from reposessing my house (otherwise those Charlotte Olympia flats would be mine!!).
Ken pointed out that all the things I bought completely and utterly represent the two things I am obsessed with: lingerie and bunnies.
See for yourself.
Marc by Marc Jacobs iPhone case, scored for half price at the outlet. I can't think of a more odd combination of images to have on one's phone case, but what can I say? I love London and I love my rabbit, so it seemed fitting to buy this.
H&M floral bralet. I tried to find the matching briefs, but alas, there were none. Maybe by fashion fate I'll find them in the Australian store.
Tonymoly lipgloss bars. This is a Philippine brand I've been stalking for AGES because their products are so beautifully packaged. I mean, who cares about the lip gloss when you get to carry a rabbit head around!! I've been showing these to Ken for at least a year and when we encountered our first Tonymoly store in Hong Kong all I needed to say was, "RABBIT HEAD LIP GLOSSES" for him to understand what they sold.
Intimissimi lingerie set. One of the many lingerie brands that I stalk, desperately wishing they shipped to Australia. Intimissimi only has one store in Hong Kong and we trekked through the busiest part of town during peak hour to get there. Small boobs must be an asian thing because almost everything was sold out in my size, but the shop assistants were honestly the loveliest and still found things for me to try on. I'll admit, I only bought the bra because the panties were so amazing. Not to say the bra isn't amazing in itself, due to the amount of cleavage it gives.
Loungewear with rabbits wearing santa hats. Is there anything I like more than holiday themed loungewear WITH matching panties WITH rabbits on them wearing santa hats?? We walked past a local lingerie store, I saw this in the shop window and the rest is history. Along with this, I also stocked up on a tonne of new undies with polarbear faces on the butt. I know, difficult to imagine and definitely a niche market, but they exist.
La Perla haul from Changi Airport!!! It saddens me that the La Perla store is closing, as it is basically the one thing that keeps me going through long-haul flights; the fact that stopping over in Singapore means new La Perla for me. However I did walk into one of the biggest La Perla sales of my life. Also, my first
La Perla Maison set; so much excitement!! I'm sure I'll do another post on these another day, when I have time to suck in my gut and get some good photos of that bodysuit (an early Christmas present from Ken).
