Courtney

For whatever reason, tonight when I was brushing my teeth and getting ready to go to bed, I kept thinking of this girl, Courtney, who I used to hang out with when I was in my early teens or so. She my mom's friend granddaughter. She lived in Florida and was very American dream/girl next doorish. Pretty. Smart. Blonde.
Well she's been missing for a few weeks now. I heard she was attacked by a shark. She would have had to have been devoured completely because there's not a trace of her left except for her surf board which was eventually found with what appeared to be shark bites all over it.
What happened was she was in Hawii with two of her law school friends. I think she had an apartment there. They all went surfing, and she left the beach early to go back to her apartment. When the girls got back to the apartment, she wasn't there. Her surf board wasn't there. Her cell phone and all of her clothes were, though.
She had been looking forward to a luau they were supposed to attend that night, so the friends assumed they'd all meet up there.
Well, she didn't show up.
Some onlookers or something saw her going off to some part of the beach that's unsafe. Also, she was seen with some guy. Some minority, I can't remember what he was that was mentioned. It seemed to be an important factor to the storytellers. They questioned him, and he's clear.
So now, they're thinking she was eaten by a shark. It's the only thing they can imagine.

It's just kind of weird. She and I used to hang out, have fun doing stupid stuff like slidind down the stairs (not the railing, the stairs). She was kind. As far as I could remember, she was kind all the time. I remember her as always being really nice to me, eager to hear another joke or discover some oddity in her grandmother's house together. We had fun together. We were penpals when she wasn't in Jersey.
To imagine the possibilities surrounding her current physical state, it's just a little strange.
