WE HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR TANZANIA!!!!!!

Well, almost. Bill just got his tax return, which brings us up to an amount that is SO CLOSE to paying our boarding and travel fees. We have enough to house both of us at the Children's Village, and enough to get one of us over there. We still need to make enough for the other plane ticket and for whatever shots and visas we'll need.

I am super excited. We've only been talking about it for less than a year, but I feel as though it's been a mutual goal for so much longer. All the planning and daydreaming. I'm giddy!

We're considering doing some fund raising, and both of us kind of regret being Atheists because church folk are notorious for shelling out cash to send their members to Africa. I remember so many occasions from my time as a churchgoer during which someone would show up and just say "Africa" and then we'd have a second offering to fund their proselytizing.

I've seen people set up Paypal accounts to raise money for themselves to do similar things, so I'm considering doing that for us, except most of our friends are poor and/or stingy and I don't feel like dealing with even more "I really wish I could give, but times are tough" bullhonkery. That song and dance ruins my day when it comes from people who drop a couple thousand on drugs, video games and liquor per year.

Bill's aunt and uncle in Maine are pretty rich AND happen to be decent people, so I'm thinking maybe we can just point the "Donate Now" button directly at them and see what happens.

I dunno.

Also, Jen, I'm probably going to be elbowing you frantically within the next couple of weeks for your input, depending on what I decide between English or Art teacher or preschool teacher! That is, if you don't mind (or, honestly, probably if you do mind...). The primary school has 450 kids and only 15 teachers. They have extremely limited English skills themselves and very few teaching tools. I imagine everyone leans towards preschool teacher because when the website adds "develop a lesson plan" I know I shake a little, so I'd like to really take a look at myself and decide whether or not I have what it takes to teach kids English without any formal training.

Volunteering positions descriptions.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if anyone has any ideas on funding and/or teaching, give me your input!

So excited. So excited. So excited.
