Seriously, you've said it so well.
I get sick of the claims of persecution in my area - a region that is about 2/3 Roman Catholic and non-Christian religions account for only a few percent of the population - claim to be so persecuted because they can't have everything their way. There was a huge issue here years ago because a pagan group, most likely Wiccan, dared to use a community center to hold either a solstice or moon ceremony and the local newspaper ran the standard fluff piece about it (pardon the confusion about the details; the article clearly show the author's lack of firm grasp.) People went ape over it, insisting the pagans were "stealing the Christian holiday in an effort to destroy the Church" (effective amalgamation of various letters published on it.)
I took a measure of satisfaction in the fact that their demand to have the group excluded from the community center ultimately produced a ban on any religious group using the center. The usage by various Christian churches was largely for fund-raising events, so from a financial perspective, this move ultimately hurt them far worse.
