This evening I was hemming some muslin ruffles for a shirt (that's English muslin - fine see through type) using what I find is a very quick method. You pick up lots of tiny stitches on the needle before pulling the thread through - you can hem about 4" on one needle full. You can do it with either hand which is good if you had painful hands, and it doesn't involve any movement. Oops sorry for the lesson - you probably all do it that way anyway. So, I am sitting there listening to a bit of Handel and not really concentrating, and when I look at my hands they look look something out of a Victorian sewing manual. When I write it down it doesn't sound like anything special, but I could have taken a photo of my hands for a demonstration (yeah, I've got three hands - one for the camera right?!)It just felt really weird, like they were sewing without me. Oh boy, now I am weird - I'm off to bed!
