Well, we beat the developers again - till the next time.
Another planning meeting tonight. Finally, all the necessary councillors were there, we had legal notification and so it started on time. The Planning Officer set out what was proposed, then any objectors - me and another lady - spoke against the proposal. A councillor, not on the committee also spoke on our behalf. There was a speaker on behalf of the developers too. Then the council members discussed the building, and all the legal ramifications. My objections on the grounds of lack of amenities, and other objections about parking etc. would not hold legal water, as advised by the Planning Officer and the Legal Gent. However, all the councillors thought the proposed new building was ugly, did not fit in with the surrounding Georgian or Victorian buildings, and they refused planning permission on that alone. So we won, again. The develops will, of course, go to appeal, but at least we have another breather.
