Back from HCCO prac; was srsly awesome, the company was good too (Amanda, Elf, Xinyi, Cass Wendy!) haha the whole atmosphere's a world apart from that of NY's. Everyone was slacking around and having random conversation with each other (like there were people playing mahjong and eating!) :O Saw seniors like Laiweng Yijiao and Caitong too (yay tanbo which I will like cos its like the glutton section HAHAHA!) and we had this bonding session (Amanda and I + 3 HC guys and 5 seniors) during xiaozu where we played PIG (HAHA OMG) lunch at Burger Shack was delish, then dazu for 2 hours and we went homeee~

But anyway I'm posting because the ambience is so different; in NY people are really on task and they start practice punctual and proper and the teachers/seniors really focus on techniques rhythm and essentially, the fundamentals which may not result in fruitful practices 'cause its quite a lot to achieve whereas in HC everyone was really enjoying themselves and having fun during xiaozu, but when dazu started everyone was so focused and listening to the conductor which was really different (and they looked at the conductor without prompting, something in which NYGZ srsly lacks haha) I mean, in NY everything was more standard-oriented but in HC its like.. The people there are all good and skilled, and they're focused when the situation calls for their attention; they give their best and perform what would've taken like 8 hours to perfect in just 2 hours. It's simply amazing; especially how the conductor says that "making music should be something enjoyable and happy" and that music is all about "feeling", which I totally concur with.

I think its just the difference in culture; not that I'm saying NYGZ is horrible/bad/anything (omg no way!! NYGZ is, and always will be my first love) or that HCCO is way better, just that I find being in HCCO makes me ask myself what I want to acheive as a musician and a performer and what's the most important thing to me when I create music, which I sometimes neglect in NYGZ unless I'm conducting/totally immersed in the music. Hmm, kinda like the focus point being different (result vs process) yup..

On a random note I feel like learning an new instrument (for the experience, haha) like ruan/liuqin/pipa/perc hahaha :P
