Enjoying school...me? What?
God is so funny :) Some of you may know that the last 3 years of college for me have been a bit difficult in a few ways. The main one is my eagerness to get out in the world and just do ministry. I've really struggled with enjoying my classes (Don't get me wrong, there were a few in there I loved, but for the most part, blah). This year has been very different for some reason. I'm taking some classes I really like and am getting into. One of them I had today, Spirituality, Faith, and Justice. It's a soc/pol science, class that I randomly signed up for to fill some credits, and it's great! Today we talked about this picture (some of u may have seen it, but this was my first experience), which is titled "Piss Christ":
It's a crucifix in urine. Now my first reaction was, "ew, why?" But after much thought and talking, this picture really captivated my thoughts. The urine doesn't make Christ unclean, but Christ purifies the urine. When Jesus hung around the "unclean" back in the day people thought he then was becoming unclean, but really he was purifying them....Amazing.
