Now that I've shocked you all with that last post...

I think it's high time for a real update.

Fox News called today. And, what was I doing when they called? Playing DDR.

Yep, that's right: a potential intern--someone who tries to be professional and composed in the midst of potential employers--was playing a dance video game.

Boy, I felt like a moron. I sounded like one, too...

"Hello. Is this Joy?"

"Um...(pant)...yes...(pant)...this is she...(pant)."

"This is Courtney from Fox News.."

"Oh!!! HIII!!! I am so glad you called!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!"

Luckily, I haven't blown it yet. I'm planning to fly to NYC and (hopefully) wow them with my maturity...ha. That's funny...

And, in other news, I experienced my first teacher smackdown in TV News Producing...

I had this great shot at the end of my homework...it was a profile piece on a classmate/friend of mine.

Her friend had a soundbyte before that explaining how friendly she was to people on the street. So (in substitution for not actually having a shot of her waving), I decided to get video of her interacting with people. Then, I tacked on a close-up of her hands gesturing while she talked.

I thought it was brilliant. It was a great sequence, the video wasn't blue or anything, and it made logical sense to include it after a qoute about her friendliness.

So, in front of the entire class, my teacher says, "Joy, why did you choose that last shot?"

I gave her my reasons, and then I said, "I thought it would work."

"Well," she said, "It didn't."

I laughed. That's all I could do...I was too shocked to say anything else.

I believe this knife is yours, Ava Greenwell...

Oh, yeah. Then there's that whole TM thing. But that's for another update, another time...:)
