We are strangers
to each other now.
Once we were
familiar
intimate
exclusive
but to what costs?
Exclusive to deny
what strangers
inside us?
Unshared identities
locked away when we met again.
Strength and wonder untapped
because it was not
what we were
when we became.
I need you to see me.
I'm begging you to see us.
We are alive.
We grow.
We become different.
Let us invite together
our strangers
to dine on our knowledge,
to wipe off the apple juice
as it rolls off our chins.
