Baby Van Gogh will probably not rot Van's sweet little brain unless all he ever does is watch it. It is of my humble opinion that people sometimes go overboard with the "no TV" thing and often end up isolating their children from a big part of mainstream sociaty (though this surely is the goal!). Seems detrimental to me. Eliot watches about 1 hour of TV a day and it really helps to calm him down after a long day of playing. You have to choose your battles, you know?
The Y sounds fabulous. I'm so excited for you to get out and do something for yourself.
As far as vacuums go, I think the most exciting thing about our new house is the central vaccuum system. There are just outlets all over the house that you plug a simple hose attachment into and vaccuum away! Also, there's this really cool thing in the kitchen under the sink that you just sweep dirt, etc into and push a button and it evacuates it for you. So awesome. I can't wait to move in. I can relate to the grown-up house thing. I'm actually cutting patterns out of magazines to use as color schemes for different rooms in the new house. Never really done anything like that before. . .
