I have been so busy with social stuff this weekend. Friday night was Kristin's bachelorette party. We made her wear fairy wings and a little tiara and a tutu, as well as a shirt we all signed and wrote on that said "BRIDE" on it. In this ridiculous getup we took her to a restaurant none of us could properly afford, where we got our own little room and a delicious meal. The wine was fantastic, and we got complimentary champagne. Some of the girls were Kristin's college and law school friends, who I didn't know, and it was fun to meet them because Kristin is probably the best judge of character I know. Others were high school friends of mine I hadn't seen much since graduation, and that was especially fun.
After dinner some of us went to a bar where we made Kristin do all these crazy dares we had written on index cards. All the most outlandish dares were mine. To appreciate it fully, you almost have to have known Kristin in high school, because she was VERY straight laced and dignified. A real goody-two shoes, perfectionistic, all that. I never could have pictured her dancing suggestively with strange boys . She went up to a random person and offered to them a wedding invitation in exchange for sexual favors. When people asked if she was getting married, she had to tell them it was to her 18-year-old former student (a lie, of course). XD I think the most amazing was when we dared her to collect a boy's underwear and get him to autograph it, which she successfully accomplished. It was hilarious. At one point we dared her to make out with her best friend, and she didn't want to do it, so I did it instead. XD We were out way too late for me, or for any of us. Haru would have approved.
Then yesterday my family all went to my cousin's house to meet her new baby girl. She was the cutest thing! Though honestly I had more fun playing with her six-year-old brother. He's got bright red hair and wants to be an archaeologist! We had a BBQ and AMAZING German chocolate cake. The weather was perfect. My great-uncle is getting really old and frail, so we really cherish our time with him. My cousin has two huge dogs that were all over us, as well as a 20-year-old African gray parrot and a whole brood of bunnies. Needless to say, when we got back to my parents' house my mom's dog went nuts! XD
Tonight is Kristin's wedding. It should be very nice. I'm not a bridesmaid or anything, so it should be fairly relaxing for me. My parents are going too. It still doesn't feel quite real to me!
