Fic: The Thought That Counts

“You bought me a car?” Kurt asked dumbly staring at the shiny new vehicle sitting in the parking garage of their apartment complex.

“Yeah, do you like it?” Puck asked staring hopefully at Kurt. Puck knew that Kurt had said that he didn’t want a birthday present this year, that they should save money, but Puck just couldn’t not buy his husband a present on his thirtieth birthday.

“Of course I like it you know I do…it’s my favorite.” Kurt said lightly touching the sleek black car with his glove covered hands. “But you can’t just go and buy a car without talking to me about it first, even if it is for my birthday-which you agreed would present free I recall.”

“I know I did, but you’re turning thirty Kurt not twenty-seven. It’s something to celebrate, plus it’s nothing we can’t afford.” Puck said leaning on Kurt’s lithe body pushing him further towards the car.

“It’s nothing I can’t afford, you on the other hand however…how did you pay for this?” Kurt asked looking back into his husband’s eyes.

“Well…” Puck mumbled taking a step back from Kurt and rubbing the back of his head, reminding himself for a second of the mohawk that once adorned his head. “You always said that we would share everything…”

“You used my credit card.” Kurt surmised shaking his head at the taller man.

“We’ll I can pay for the payments every month, but I didn’t have enough for the down payment…” Puck grinned seeing that his ‘better half’ was amused and not angry at the odd way to get a birthday present.

“So I bought the car myself…” Kurt said turning back around to look at the car.

“It’s the thought that counts” Puck said lovingly tucking Kurt into his arms and kissing his shoulder
