New Years Resolutions

Jan 17, 2010 14:48

This isn't just about the new year. This is about my life.

∙No Soda
Doing okay with this one. Only slipped up once or twice. Also started replacing one meal almost everyday with one of those health shake things. I've done that before and it really does work. The key is to be eating healthy for the other two meals of the day.

∙Reading Bible everyday/Growing in my faith
Yeah, not doing so great. I'm starting with 1st Kings though because I am really interested in the lives of the Old Testament kings after reading Lynn Austin's Chronicles of the Kings series. I'm gonna try to just continue there and hope to make it to Psalms at least. I've also tried different spiritual rituals such as fasting and days of prayer in the past and I really like it and would like to make that a regular part of my life; like once a week or every two weeks. If anyone knows good book study on Kings or Chronicles that would be great. I do much better with a guided study than on my own.

∙Working out
Heheh... I just bought a new gym bag today so that I can keep workout clothes in the car and just go when I'm done with classes. I need to dig my weights out of the closet and stick them in there. Also found some great workout plans online that are easy and come with explanations of exercises. I also want to look up some new bike paths. One of my hopes is to find some bike paths in more rural places and take my camera with me in a backpack. I enjoy shooting scenery and you can get out in some really quiet, awesome places on bike paths.

∙No social websites from 8:30 - 2:30 on M-F
This is to help me focus on SCHOOL while I am at said institution. I have been doing GREAT with this MWF mostly because I don't have TIME to go on the internet. My problem arises on TTH when I work, and end up on the internet during my lunch break and when I am bored. There are other things I can be doing with my time.

Thanks for your prayers friends. With God, this year will prove fruitful.
