If anyone has noticed that I haven't been posting much as of late, and has wondered why, I do have a good reason. It's called Everquest II. You see, thanks to Will and
diamentensu, I am now sucked into the MMORPG world. (That stands for Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, for the uninformed.) Those of you who know me pretty well know that I've always been a casual gamer, never playing for long periods of time, and frequently losing interest in a game before getting very far. EQII is different. I guess it's the community feel of it, or the fact that I can play alongside Will with my character complimenting his, or maybe just the fact that I now have a computer capable of playing this kind of game, or maybe "D": all of the above. Anyway, the point being, I devote way too much of my free time to this game, and the dishes and laundry are piling up. But, hey, I have a level 14 (almost 15) Wood Elf Cleric to show for my trouble!
Yeah, onto something besides video games. A couple of weekends ago, Will and I spent an entire Saturday fixing the Corsica up. New brakes, new rotors (you don't wanna know how bad they were), two new tires on the front, oil change (and refilling the fluids), and cleaning and vacuuming the inside. It feels like a totally different car, which is a good thing.
Some highlights from my life:
- Faith Automotive in Tahlequah is awesome. If anyone around here needs a mechanic, I really recommend them. He came in on a Saturday when he's normally not open because we couldn't take the car in on a weekday since we work. Also, he was only going to charge us $25 (plus parts, which we had to go get since he couldn't leave the shop since he was there by himself). We gave him a little more because he went out of his way for us.
- There are some really nice people around here. This older gentleman that was at the shop at the same time we were gave us a ride to go get the rotors, since Tim (the mechanic) had already taken the wheels off , thus discovering how bad the rotors were. Not used to random strangers being so nice.
- Wal-mart sucks. Yes, I already knew this, but they took 3 1/2 hours to change the oil and replace a bad tire, then they told us that they wouldn't put the same size of tire back on it, so we had to replace BOTH front tires with a smaller size, because that's all that they would do. THEN, when we left, one of the back tires had a leak, so we took it back and it was ANOTHER 2 hours or so to get THAT fixed! We've avoided Wal-mart like the plague ever since.
- The cats are evil kleptomaniacs. First, they swiped my glasses and chewed them up, and I'm stuck wearing them. Then, when I was in the shower, one of them got up on the cabinet where I had placed my wedding ring set (the band and the engagement ring had not been attached yet), knocked the engagement part of it off, and then proceeded to run off with it. I still can't find it. Don't know if I'll ever find it. Although they left me with the band, I'm still pretty hacked off. My wedding ring is pretty important to me, as I'm sure you can imagine.
- If everything works out, we'll be getting another car soon. It was wrecked slightly, and we're waiting for the guy to rebuild it. The rebuilder is a friend of my parents, and someone we trust to do a quality job. It's a '02 Taurus, silver, with <60K miles. We're pretty excited, I just hope everything works out OK.
- I changed my major from MIS to International Business. I just don't really want to be a Network Admin or anything else that MIS is really good for, so I decided to go with something I really AM interested in. My plan is to work for a multinational corporation and be a liason between the American and Japanese branches. That is, if I ever get the hand of the language. It's much harder to learn than Spanish was!
Well, so ends the bulleted, and rather long, update on my life. I'm glad the cold weather is here, but I'm dreading cold season. My co-worker already has one, so I'll probably be next. **gloom**
Wish us luck, we have an Accounting test on Monday.
