Michele Bachman decides not be Swiss after all

"I took this action because I want to make it perfectly clear: I was born in America and I am a proud American citizen. I am, and always have been, 100% committed to our United States constitution and the United States of America," Bachmann said.
Also:

"As the daughter of an Air Force veteran, stepdaughter of an Army veteran and sister of a Navy veteran, I am proud of my allegiance to the greatest nation the world has ever known."

The Byzantine Empire? Anyway. After days of reading online comments on "socialist" (AHAHAHA!) Switzerland, I feel like partying.

The words they were looking for are actually conservative and social. That doesn't mean we're social conservatives, but conservative and social. Means: we cling to our traditions, but usually don't mind that our taxes are spent on improving the lives of our next, be they working or not, healthy or sick, in accordance with our constitution, which is based on the teachings of some radical leftist rabbi. We even regularly vote for tax increases to keep that standard.

Her husband and kids keep the Swiss citizenship, though - smart move! Now all five of them can go to university without having to spend a fortune, they can take free language classes and subsidised yodelling courses. And if they should fall on hard times, they will always have a place where they will be fed, clothed, get a roof over their head and medical care. And all that with my tax dollars francs.

The press here didn't give much space to this drama, by the way. The reaction of the public was an almost unison and very vitriolic "Do Not Want". But for now, the cows of war* have been ordered back.

* why, yes, we do have fighting cows here!
