Thanks so much for confirming it. This is very exciting; I adore that ship, and I'm so happy to know she'll be back on the big screen (and in 3D!). I can imagine that the days are very long; on the screen, it all looks like fun, but it's hard work. Much appreciated! :)

I know Surprise is going to be used in POTC4 and I think she's away filming at the moment (one of my flist was going to visit another flister and was disappointed that she wouldn't be able to see Surprise due to the ship's being away for filming, is how I know.)

Aw, I'm sorry she missed her, this must have been disappointing. I hope she'll have another chance of visiting Surprise. From the pictures it doesn't look like they've changed too much, and as others said, that figurehead is unique. I'm getting more and more excited - tall ships! In 3D! :-D

Aw, don't hold it against her. Yes, she's used in a pirate movie, but she's "HMS", and she'll run them all in the ground (Ocean, I mean...) - I'd been more worried if they'd turned her into Blackbeard's flag ship!

Oh, I don't hold it against the dear. I hold it against TPTB who did not see fit to have her sail into the MC:FSotW sequel.

On the other hand, a pirate movie....even if it is 3D...or would it be possible to get exerpts with only Surprise?

You could just skip the plot and only watch the scenes with the Surprise on the DVD. And I don't think you need to worry about her recognition factor: those who notice the ship will think of MC. The rest very likely wouldn't know if it was the Black Pearl or the Titanic. The ship was a central point and character in MC, while it's just a setting in POTC. Very different approach, and Providence or whatever, the dear Surprise is the dear Surprise. And don't give hope for the MC sequel yet. ;)
