i got my 1940s knitting book. lots of cool patterns, but unfortunately most of them come in one size each, and that one size is a 14 or a 16. it does have instructions for knitting particular types of sleeves and doing particular types of shaping, so all is not lost. i could always use a different sweater pattern in my size, and do different sleeves on it. anyway, there's instructions for tons of different knitting and crocheting techniques, and will help with any other vintage knitting patterns i find that are actually close to my size. argh. frustrating.
