Last week some ASEDA folks went out to Lakeside High School to dance to the sweet strains of their student jazz band. Aaron babysat so mom could come along, and she put together the following video:

The first clip is Huy and Bela, who taught the beginner lesson. There's also some footage of the high school kids dancing. Then, at about 4:39, I'm dancing with a guy named Lee. At 2:11, it's back to Huy and Bela, and at 2:33 watch for the hoppy couple--a pair of teenagers who took the idea of "pulse" a little seriously. They almost looking like they're doing shag (except we all know shagging at a high school dance would be frowned on). Finally, at 2:39, you'll see Bela dancing with Nima (in the newsie cap), and me and Huy in the background.
I'm glad we did this--this kind of public outreach is really important if we want to keep swing alive and kicking. But I'm also glad it's over and I didn't dance too much, bc that hard tile floor was hell on my feet, knees, back, and just about everything else. But hey, we looked good, and that's all that matters, right? :)
