Deus ex Galactica

So I finally got around to finishing up Battlestar Galactica. About two years ago, I said that if my sci-fi show got hijacked by gods, and turned into prophecy-driven fantasy, I would be most put out.

I'm put out. )

For me it was the bit where everyone agreed to send the fleet into the sun, split up and breed with savages so they could disapear as a civilization that was... well, really dumb but done well enough to somehow not *completely* tank.

and I guess that makes as good an eptiph as any for a show I only saw the first and last season of ... So good that even the really DUMB stuff was done so well it didnt COMPLETELY bomb"

that said.. yeah..clearly they were all over the road and didnt know where they were going.. hence Cara's 'double-death' instead of one.

I have to agree with your friend about SOME of the transformations being.. well .. I think you said it but didnt realize how well you said it

"it felt like characters splintered by competing images of who they should be."

which i imagine fits humans in crisis who have made , and keep making , wrong choices but fumbling for right ones.

but yes..the ending felt like sloppy retconned world building ... but carried off by a cast and writers so good you can ALMOST forgive them for not giving this masterpiece the coherent beuatiful satisfying ending it deserved... or even the 'room for a sequal or movies' ending I'm sure there was at least a little pressure to make.

Yeah, that got to me, too. You can't get me to believe that 36,000+ people would all agree on what to have for breakfast, let alone...that.
